Course Description | To prepare INTEL Analysts and CBRN Specialists to identify the associated indicators and warnings of a developing WMD/CBRN program. This course examines CBRN strategic threats to NATO, introduces basic CBRN production and weapons concepts, describes the processes to develop a WMD/CBRN capability, and explores the indicators of clandestine programs. |

Learning Objectives | 1. WMD/CBRN THREAT, NATO POLICY AND NON - PROLIFERATION INITIATIVES: Given references, historical background, NATO policy and doctrine, and International Non-Proliferation agreements, the student will be able to describe NATO’s comprehensive approach to prevent, protect, and recover from the threat of WMD/CBRN attacks or releases highlighting the relevance of the international Non-Proliferation. 2. INTEL SUPPORT TO CBRN DEFENCE: Given references the student will be able to describe the INTEL collection disciplines and related INTEL products and processes used to evaluate, analyse and interpret CBRN data/information available. 3. WMD/CBRN MATERIALS PRODUCTION AND CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT: Given technical references the student will be able to describe the processes required to develop nuclear fissile materials, biological agents and toxins, and chemical agents that can be used in a WMD and attacks/activities involving CBRN materials. 4. WMD/CBRN INDICATORS AND DATA/INFO PROCESSING: Given technical references the student will be able to explain the WMD/CBRN materials production methods required to create and develop a WMD/CBRN program and capabilities to include weaponization, storage, delivery and dispersal, and analyze the production processes associated with weapons development in order to determine the indicators and warnings of clandestine CBRN programs. |
