Course Description | A 9-day course, based on current NATO Policy, Doctrine and TTPs focused on the duties of the JPR specialist (staff) working at Joint or Component/Sector level during the execution of JPR operations. It includes the basic knowledge about JPR and an intentionally reduced part of operational planning functions, limiting them to mission/tactical planning, and review of existing documents. |
Course Notes | The main target audience is the following:
• Staff member in a PRCC or JPRC in NATO (PE or CE), EU or at national level. It includes controller and duty officers, SERE and INTEL specialist, Director/Chief and deputies.
The following personnel are considered to be a secondary training audience:
• National staff responsible to set-up and manage JPR related programmes.
• PR Officer at Unit level
• Personnel belonging to the Planning Groups at Joint (JOPG) or Component level. |

Aim of the Course | The course will enable students to operate as a PR staff member in a PRCC or JPRC within a NATO, EU, or a national staff, in the execution of operations or exercises. |
Learning Objectives | 1. Organize a JPRC/PRCC displaying all relevant information
2. Identify the coordination and communication measures between JPR C2 organizations
3. Identify the JPR coordination measures within PRCC/JPRC and at unit/organization level
4. Explain the JPR organization and mission
5. Implement valid procedures and techniques to accomplish the 5 JPR Execution tasks
6. Apply the risk management process to JPR missions
7. Solve the challenges of the Report task
8. Solve the challenges of the Locate task
9. Solve the challenges of the Support task
10. Solve the challenges of the Recover task
11. Complete the closure of isolating events / JPR missions at Component or Joint level |
Pass/Fail criteria | Students will be assessed considering the following failing grade policy:
- Final test: multiple choice test where students earn less than 80%
- Role Plays. Instructors/observers will evaluate the role players using the Student Assessment Sheet. An insufficient proficiency appreciated and recorded during the Role Plays by at least two different instructors will mean student failing the course. |
